Getting started: connect Nuira to Google Ads
Learn how to connect your Google Ads account to Nuira so your campaign spend is judged against your real product margin, including every account under a manager (MCC).
Updated: 30 July 2026
Google Ads knows what you spent and what converted. It does not know what your products cost you, so it cannot tell you which campaigns actually make you money. Nuira connects your Google Ads spend to your Shopify margin so the two can be compared, and so budget can be judged against the same yardstick across Google and Meta. This guide walks you through connecting Google Ads and getting your first recommendations.
Before you start
You’ll need a Google account with access to the Google Ads accounts you want to analyse, and a Nuira workspace. If you don’t have a Nuira account yet, sign up at app.nuira.ai/signup and create a workspace before continuing.
If your accounts sit under a manager account (MCC), authorize with a Google user that has access to that manager. Nuira walks the hierarchy and finds the child accounts itself, so you don’t have to connect them one at a time.
Connect Shopify first if you haven’t. Google spend on its own tells Nuira what you spent; it takes your Shopify orders and product costs to say whether that spend was worth it.
Step 1: Start the connection from Nuira
From your Nuira workspace, click Integrations in the left sidebar. The page lists every source you can connect, under the heading Your sources. Find the Google Ads tile and click Connect. Nothing to fill in — you go straight to Google.
Step 2: Authorize access in Google
You’ll be redirected to Google’s consent screen and asked to sign in if you aren’t
already. Google will show you that Nuira is requesting access to your Google Ads
data (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/adwords).
Worth being straight about this one: Google Ads publishes a single API scope, so the consent screen cannot offer you a read-only variant and will not describe it as read-only. Nuira only ever issues read queries against it — it reads campaign spend and conversion figures and nothing else. It never creates, edits, pauses, or budgets a campaign. Recommend-only is a product guarantee, not a permission Google is enforcing for us, which is exactly why every recommendation is something you apply yourself.
Review the request and click Allow.
Step 3: Confirm the sync
After authorizing, you’ll be redirected back to Nuira. Your Integrations page will show Google Ads with a Connected badge, and Nuira will begin syncing in the background.
Nuira lists every Google Ads account your user can reach, expands any manager accounts into the accounts underneath them, and imports campaign-level performance for each: cost, conversions, and conversion value, broken down by campaign and by day, with each account’s own currency and timezone.
The first sync covers the last 90 days. After that, Nuira refreshes automatically every few hours and only pulls what changed since the last run.
One thing that surprises people: a manager account with no spending children of its own imports nothing, and that is the correct result rather than a failure. If the tile says Connected but you see no Google figures, check that the accounts you expected are actually under the manager you authorized, and that they had spend in the last 90 days.
Step 4: Explore your recommendations
Open Recommendations in the sidebar. You’ll see a ranked list of suggested actions, ordered by estimated profit impact, with the number and the reasoning behind each one and a confidence level so you know how much weight to give it.
With Google Ads, Meta Ads, and Shopify all connected, Nuira can compare marginal return across channels rather than inside one: scaling a Google Brand campaign running well above target, moving budget out of a Meta campaign into Google Shopping when the return there is higher, or flagging spend pointed at products that sell below contribution margin.
Nuira only recommends. It never changes a budget, pauses a campaign, or edits a keyword on your behalf: you decide what to act on, and you make the change in Google Ads yourself.
Step 5: Review insights and sales attribution
Insights shows what’s changed recently across revenue, margin, and ad spend, while Sales breaks down where your revenue is coming from by channel, including what Google actually contributed. Use these views alongside your recommendations to understand the “why” behind each suggestion.
Disconnecting or reconnecting
If you ever need to reconnect or disconnect Google Ads, go to Integrations, click the ··· menu in the top-right corner of the Google Ads tile, and choose Reconnect or Disconnect. Disconnecting removes Nuira’s stored access to your Google Ads accounts and stops future syncing, but does not delete historical data already imported. Reconnecting sends you back through the same Google consent screen, and syncing resumes from where it left off.
If a connection stops working — access revoked, or a password change that invalidates it — the tile changes to Reconnect needed and Nuira emails your workspace rather than leaving you with a chart that quietly stopped updating.
