Getting started: connect Nuira to Meta Ads

Learn how to connect your Meta Ads account to Nuira so your campaign spend is judged against your real product margin, not just ROAS.

Updated: 30 July 2026

Meta reports your campaigns in revenue and ROAS. Neither tells you whether a campaign is profitable, because neither knows what your products cost you. Nuira connects your Meta Ads spend to your Shopify margin so the two can finally be compared. This guide walks you through connecting Meta Ads and getting your first recommendations.

Before you start

You’ll need a Meta account with access to the ad accounts you want to analyse, and a Nuira workspace. If you don’t have a Nuira account yet, sign up at app.nuira.ai/signup and create a workspace before continuing.

Connect Shopify first if you haven’t. Meta spend on its own tells Nuira what you spent; it takes your Shopify orders and product costs to say whether that spend was worth it.

Step 1: Start the connection from Nuira

From your Nuira workspace, click Integrations in the left sidebar. The page lists every source you can connect, under the heading Your sources. Find the Meta Ads tile and click Connect. Nothing to fill in — you go straight to Meta.

Step 2: Authorize access in Meta

You’ll be redirected to Meta and asked to sign in if you aren’t already. Meta will show you the permission Nuira is requesting: ads_read, which grants read access to the performance data of the ad accounts you can see. That is the only permission Nuira asks for. It cannot create, edit, pause, or spend anything, and it has no access to your pages, posts, or audiences. Review the request and authorize the connection.

Step 3: Confirm the sync

After authorizing, you’ll be redirected back to Nuira. Your Integrations page will show Meta Ads with a Connected badge, and Nuira will begin syncing in the background.

Nuira finds every ad account your Meta user can access — you don’t pick them one by one — and imports campaign-level performance for each: spend, conversions, and conversion value, broken down by campaign and by day. Daily granularity is what makes it possible to line spend up against the orders it produced.

The first sync covers the last 90 days. After that, Nuira refreshes automatically every few hours and only pulls what changed since the last run.

Step 4: Explore your recommendations

Open Recommendations in the sidebar. You’ll see a ranked list of suggested actions, ordered by estimated profit impact, with the number and the reasoning behind each one and a confidence level so you know how much weight to give it.

With Meta Ads and Shopify both connected, the recommendations turn concrete: concentration of spend in a campaign running below your blended ROAS target, budget worth moving from a Meta campaign to a Google Ads one when the marginal return there is higher, campaigns spending against products that sell below contribution margin.

Nuira only recommends. It never pauses a campaign, moves a budget, or edits an ad on your behalf: you decide what to act on, and you make the change in Meta Ads Manager yourself.

Step 5: Review insights and sales attribution

Insights shows what’s changed recently across revenue, margin, and ad spend, while Sales breaks down where your revenue is coming from by channel, including what Meta actually contributed. Use these views alongside your recommendations to understand the “why” behind each suggestion.

When Meta asks you to reconnect

Meta access granted through a personal login expires after about 60 days, whether or not anything is wrong. When it does, the Meta Ads tile changes from Connected to Reconnect needed, syncing stops, and Nuira emails your workspace so nobody finds out weeks later from a stale chart.

Fixing it takes one click: go to Integrations, open the ··· menu on the Meta Ads tile, and choose Reconnect. Syncing resumes from where it left off and nothing already imported is lost.

Disconnecting or reconnecting

The same ··· menu carries Disconnect. Disconnecting removes Nuira’s stored access to your Meta ad accounts and stops future syncing, but does not delete historical data already imported.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Can Nuira change my Meta campaigns?

No. Nuira reads spend and performance per campaign per day and never writes back. Every recommendation is something you decide on and apply in Meta Ads Manager yourself.

Why does Nuira judge my spend differently from Meta?

Meta optimises on revenue because it cannot see your product cost. Nuira combines the same spend with your Shopify order costs, so a campaign with a strong ROAS can still show up as losing margin.

Does the Meta connection expire?

Yes. Meta is the one connector with no refresh token, so its access token has a hard expiry and needs a manual reconnect. Nuira emails you before it lapses and shows the status on the Integrations page.

Which ad accounts does it sync?

Every ad account the authorising user can access, so a business managing several brands gets them all without connecting one at a time.
